The result is I can get about a 135% scaling, with HiDPI and fonts look reasonably clear. When it runs at native resolution, it looks ok, very slightly blurry fonts, and the terminal never looks quite right to me, so wanted to have another go at trying to go full retina on it. To change resolution on Windows 10, right-click on your desktop, and click Display settings. My computer is a Mac Mini late 2012 (i7 model) running OS X 10.11. I have found a solution, and it stems from the fact that I bought a new Iiyama 3440x1440 Ultrawide. I've bought monitors in the past (a lovely Dell, 2560x1440) and had to cave to the fact that I could not run retina/HiDPI at anything more than 1650x1080, and have black bars left and right of the main screen. Select the new 2560x1080 resolution that is now available. Even when on a non-native resolution, I feel its sharper than running on the low DPI setting. It should show up as a custom resolution now. I like Mac's retina (otherwise known as HiDPI under the hood) display.

If I set the display to 1080p the strain goes but the quality of the image is worse than my side monitors. Ive been getting eye strain this week when my main monitor is set to 1440p, its really bad. I then tried SwitchResX which was a bit better, but still fuzzy. I tired the settings in Display>Sytem Preferences and turned off Automatic Graphics Switching, but without luck.

I bought the LG 29EA93 ultra-wide screen (2560x1080) as a second monitor for my Macbook Pro 15' Retina (OSX 10.8.5), but the image on the screen looks fuzzy. I just purchased the LG 34' Class UltraWide IPS Gaming Monitor 34UM57-P (see link below) and connected it using Thunderbolt to HDMI.
